What are the NPQs

National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) are a national, voluntary suite of qualifications designed to support the professional development of teachers and school leaders. They equip teachers with the expertise to lead sustainable improvement across their schools.

Flexible delivery

Our NPQs are designed with flexibility in mind. Our hybrid delivery means your teachers and leaders can train to their timetable with the courses designed to fit around existing commitments. Most of the training can be completed at a time that suits your staff with minimal time spent away from your school.

Fully funded until 2024

DfE-funded scholarships are now available to schools across England, including all state schools and state funded organisations that offer 16-19 places.

The new NPQs
  • Specialist NPQs: the four specialist NPQs provides teachers and leaders with the opportunity to invest in their own development without moving away from what they love – teaching in the classroom.
  • Leadership NPQs: A key part of the new NPQ framework is a move away from a more generic approach to leadership and a move towards what school leaders need to know in their role.

“Every module has impacted my practice. Each week, small adjustments have positively benefitted my role. It's enabled me to engage with research whilst working which I like.” Ambition NPQ participant
